Berkeley
Location
Berkeley is bound by Federal Boulevard on the east, I-70 on the north, Sheridan Boulevard on the West and 38th avenue on the south.
About
In 1879, businessman and developer John Brisben Walker established Berkeley Farm. Eventually including over 1,500 acres, Berkeley was advertised as a healthy suburb, free from the smoke and dust of the city, with plentiful water and convenient public transportation. In 1892, the mostly middle and working class residents of the community incorporated the area into the town of North Denver. In 1898, the name was changed to Berkeley and expanded development began with small neighborhood stores and a small commercial district along Tennyson Street where the post office was established. Since its humble beginnings, Tennyson Street has continued to grow and evolve achieving the perfect balance of casual cool through its shopping, services, and attractions, which include
Elitch Gardens. In current times, the Berkeley neighborhood has become a beacon for the celebration of arts and culture, with First Fridays art walks and year-round festivals and activities. If you seek a historically rich area that continues to hold its unique character and bohemian charms, Berkeley is for you.

Highland/LoHi
Location
Highland (also referred to as LoHi) is bound by West 38th Avenue to the north, a Union Pacific Railroad line on the east, the South Platte River to the southeast, Speer Boulevard on the south, and Federal Boulevard on the west.
AboutOverlooking downtown Denver, Highland is a hip and vibrant residential neighborhood featuring avenues lined with elegant old homes, chic cocktail bars and trendsetting restaurants. Founded in 1858 by Scottish, English and Welsh immigrants, a unique feature of this neighborhood is its use of unusual square platting of blocks which were designed so that every home could face all adjacent streets to make it possible for carriages to turnaround in the center of the block. Many of these center lots remain, giving providing a community feel to residents. Most homes were constructed between 1893 and 1939 and include a mix of Victorian, Queen Anne, bungalows, and then later, ranch-style homes. The redevelopment of the Central Platte Valley in the late 1990s spurred a flurry of interest in the Highlands and the addition of the Denver Millennium Bridge and
Platte River Bridge linking the area to downtown Denver increased its popularity. Highland Square has a robust commercial center with boutiques, wine shops and bookstores, as well as innovative restaurants and bars. The Tennyson Street Cultural District, with its antique shops and galleries is also close by. For those looking to enjoy the outdoors, the
Highland Bridge spans the South Platte River to Commons and Confluence parks and is home to jogging paths, shady picnic spots and riverside trails. With so much to offer, it is easy to see why the Highlands is one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Denver.

About
According to legend, in 1861, Thomas Sloan tapped into a water aquifer while digging a well to irrigate his farmland in what is now considered West Denver. Overnight, the lake spread to a whopping 200 acres! Dubbed “Sloan’s Lake,” activities such as boating, swimming, and ice skating made the lake a popular recreational attraction in Denver. Today, residents still enjoy biking, hiking and jogging around Sloan's Lake Park, and its breathtaking mountain and cityscape views. The lake isn’t the neighborhood’s only attraction, however thanks to a slew of recent additions. Shops and restaurants have turned part of West 29th Avenue into a walkable strip, while developments like the Lakehouse condo community on the former site of St. Anthony’s Hospital are transforming the area near West Colfax. The neighborhood retains its old-style charm with everything from red- and blonde-brick ranches to Victorians and Tudors. Just ten minutes from downtown, and near the popular Highlands District, Sloan’s Lake is an ideal neighborhood for those seeking more affordable homes with easy access to the city.
